International Women's Day Assembly (DC)


International Women’s Day events are held worldwide on March 8. Different activities like assemblies, special gathering, awareness campaigns are help worldwide to mark this day to empower women and create awareness among people. The messages given at these various events often focus on various themes such as innovation, women power or the importance of education and career opportunities for girls / women. Billabong High International School (DC) also celebrated this day with a special assembly and special guests from different professions addressed the students. Ms Fathmath Zuhana (Program Analyst for UN Women in Maldives) interacted and shared important information about the importance of women in the society, their influence, and issues that affect them. In addition Dr Nazma Hameed (Senior Consultant in Obstetric and Gynecology), Dr. Naina (Pediatrician), Aminath Reema (Auditor), Nada Shareef, (Psychologist) and Jabeeha Ahmed (Athlete) talked about their profession and the kind of work they do in their field with the students. The special guests were awarded with certificates for women’s day and students enjoyed the assembly.
