BHIS DIVING CLUB

Billabong High International School is the only school in Maldives to offer Diving as an after school activity.

We have tied up with Moodhu Bulhaa Dive Centre to provide PADI approved diving programmes to our students.

Recreational diving is a big business, and being a qualified diving instructor allows you to work anywhere around the world. Being a professional diving instructor may sound like a dream job: your work is probably located in some tropical holiday resort, and you get paid for diving - it couldn’t get any better, right?

PADI® approved Diving programmes

PADI Dive Certifications offered at BHIS include:

  • Open Water

  • Advanced Open Water (students may be able to get college credit for the Advanced Open Water Diver course.

Diving Training is offered to students of Grade 8 and above. These programmes are spread out over periods of 5-7 weeks.

These sessions will be held on weekends.

Meet our Trainer

Zoona have been working as a PADI professional for over 23 years where she have had the experience to work in various resorts and safaris as a dive instructor and base leader. One of the highlights in her career is the 8 years she worked for the International hotel chain Banyan Tree and Angsana resorts in the Maldives , where she worked as the Area Marine Recreations Manager managing their five Dive centers and waters sports.

As there is a very limited number of dive females in the diving field , one of the main focus of Zoona is to bring a change to this number.

Recently in September 2017 she became the Maldives second and  the very first female PADI Course Director in the Maldives representing just 1% of the PADI Dive Industry.

Dive Against Debris®

Once our students achieve these certifications, they have the choice to participate in Project AWARE.

Project AWARE’s flagship citizen-science program, Dive Against Debris®, empowers scuba divers to remove marine debris from the ocean and report data on the types, quantities and locations of materials collected.

Adopt a Dive Site™

Our vision is, that once we have trained and certified divers in the school community, we can go beyond and participate in Adopt a Dive Site™.

Adopt a Dive Site is tailored to the most dedicated dive leaders: participants commit to carry out monthly Dive Against Debris surveys, reporting types and quantities of marine debris found underwater each month from the same location.
